Specialising in technical and commercial management, our subsidiary STARVERT Services GmbH & Co. KG also takes care of green space maintenance and environmental monitoring.
What are we doing for biodiversity?
Our solar parks serve biodiversity. WIRCON GmbH has set itself the goal of supplying affordable and green electricity. This must, however, take place in harmony with nature, so that the solar parks also contribute to biodiversity. Steps toward nature conservation are taken into account as early as during planning stages.
In addition to the sustainable generation of energy, the construction of solar parks enables an increase in biodiversity. Agriculturally depleted soils can often recover after the construction of solar parks. Avoiding using fertiliser can mean that insect mortality is reduced. Strips of flowers between the rows of solar modules are home to wild bees, insects and birds. Fencing off land for solar parks can also create relatively undisrupted breeding grounds for ground-nesting bird species, as well as a safe retreat for amphibians, as these habitats aren’t visited as frequently by people.
After a solar park is completed, environmental monitoring is also carried out to observe the effects on biodiversity. For example, during construction, we created additional ponds and retreat areas for flora and fauna — both inside and outside the facility. The green toad, which has become rare in France, has particularly benefited from this, as shown by regular environmental monitoring. The protected green toad has taken well to the habitat within the solar park, which is protected from human access.
